Wind Chill Calculator
Wind chill tells you how cold exposed skin actually feels when wind strips away the warm air layer around your body. Enter air temperature and wind speed (°F/°C, mph/km/h) for the official NWS wind chill value, plus estimated time to frostbite and cold-danger classifications.

Wind chill chart at 20 °F air temperature
The NWS formula is valid for air temperatures ≤ 50 °F and winds above 3 mph; outside that range the model returns the air temperature itself. Wind chill applies to exposed skin only — clothing blocks the effect. Wind chill advisories and warnings trigger at different thresholds by region.

Formula

Pro tips
- • Layer up: wind chill only matters where skin meets moving air — a shell blocks nearly all of it.
- • Cover extremities first: fingers, toes, ears and nose frostbite fastest.
