SmartPoints (2015–2021) calculation
- 1Inputscalories 250 kcal, sat fat 4 g, sugar 10 g, protein 8 g
- 2Apply formula250/33 + 4/9 + 10/33 − 8/15 = 7.79 → rounds to 8
- 3Floor at zeroPoint values cannot be negative; the result is the minimum of 0.
Same food across all three systems
Rounding to the nearest integer follows the published algorithms.

Formula
SmartPoints = Cal/33 + SatFat/9 + Sugar/33 − Protein/15 · PointsPlus = P/10.9 + C/9.65 + F/3.28 − Fiber/3.78 · Original = Cal/50 + Fat/12 − Fiber/5
- • Read calories, saturated fat, sugar, protein, carbs, fat and fiber from the nutrition label.
- • Apply the selected era's formula and round to the nearest whole point (floored at 0).
- • Fiber and protein lower the value; calories, fat, saturated fat and sugar raise it.
Pro tips
- • Fiber caps at 4 g in the original system — extra fiber beyond that does not reduce points further.
- • Values are per serving; multiply by servings actually eaten before logging.
- • The 2022+ PersonalPoints system cannot be reproduced with a fixed formula — it assigns each member a unique zero-food list.
